To prepare for the procedure the skin is thoroughly cleansed and then local anesthesia is used to numb the tissues that are being treated. Patients lie comfortably on their back during the procedure and may only need to turn their head from side to side. Once the skin is numb, a tumescent fluid of local anesthesia numbs the deeper tissues. Next, the fine Facetite device is placed underneath the skin. Using a special technique, the device is gently moved back and forth to heat both the skin and deeper tissues in a controlled fashion. This combined radiofrequency energy delivery stimulates collagen production and skin tightening. After a sufficient amount of radiofrequency energy has been delivered, a thin liposuction cannula is used to permanently remove fatty deposits along the jowl, chin, jawline and neck creating a more youthful contour.
Finally, Morpheus 8 (radiofrequency microneedling procedure) is often used to treat the more superficial skin and subdermal tissues to achieve a higher level of skin tightening.
Upon completion of the procedure, patients are placed in a neck wrap with foam padding similar to a facebra in order to help minimize swelling and bruising. The facial garment remains in place for 72 hours. Afterwards, the garment can be removed for showering. Neck wraps should be worn for two weeks while at home and at nighttime.
Shortly after the procedure, patients will notice an improvement in facial contours that will continue to improve over 2-6 months as skin tightens in response to the Facetite and Morpheus 8 radiofrquency energy.
